Super Power: Persuasion (He can convince anyone that the euphonium is MUCH better than the trumpet)
Armando Alicandu serves as a senior year student at Palm Beach Atlantic University studying towards a B.A. with a euphonium & trombone principal as well as a minor in education. He received an A.A. in Music Education from Miami Dade College where he was President of Opus One Music Club and founded the outreach program “Opus One Music in Our Schools” helping high school students by hosting private lessons, masterclasses, and college assistance meetings.
As a Chamber musician, Armando has been featured in masterclasses with esteemed groups such as the “President’s Own” Marine Band Brass Quintet, Boston Brass, Dallas Brass, Center City Brass, Windsync, and Duo Brubeck. Performing with an assortment of brass and woodwind chamber groups has made him a versatile musician on the euphonium as well as the trombone.
As a performer, Armando can be found playing regularly with a wide variety of ensembles in South Florida. Armando frequently plays solo recitals and has been the featured soloist with the MDC Wind Symphony and PBA Symphony Orchestra as the winner in each of these institutions’ Concerto Competition.
Armando hopes to teach brass students to freely express themselves through their craft as well as to show mastery of brass instruments through exemplary music and modern brass pedagogy.
